Flight:  United Airlines UA 26 from London Heathrow to Denver

Duration: 9 hours 5 minutes

Equipment: B789(Boeing 787-9)

Class: Business

Seat: 9A(Window)

Seat Specification: Open Suites, Bed length: 6’6″, Seat width: 20″

This was my first time flying United Business Class on a Boeing 787. I have flown this carrier’s business class on a Boeing 747-400 Upper deck (my first business class ever!!), Boeing 747-400 Lower deck (with 2 x 4 x 2 seat layout!!), Boeing 767-300 and Boeing 777-300.

United Polaris Business Class Seat 9A

United Polaris Business class are one of my top 5 Business class seats I have experienced of all the airlines I have traveled so far. The seats where the arm-rest faces the aisle gives quite a bit of privacy.

My Seat – 9A
Lots of privacy!!
IFE Controls and Charging ports (Left), Seat controls (Right)
United Business Class Menu and Amenity Kit
Champagne & Nuts
Grilled Salmon for appetizer, Grilled Salmon for entrée with sautéed spinach and artichoke

The meal was quite average. I didn’t care for the sauce on the grilled salmon.

Chocolate Torte with Pistachios

The Torte was quite dry!!

Business Class Rear Cabin
Business Class Forward Cabin

After lunch, I laid out the seat in bed mode and went to sleep. I really like the cold memory foam pillow by Saks that United uses in the business class.

Grilled Zucchini and Chickpea curry

The pre-arrival meal was served about 2 hours before landing. My choice of Grilled Zucchini and Chickpea curry was a bust and I wish I had chosen any other option. The curry was quite bland and a total miss.

Bottomline:

Seat: *****

Service: *

Food: **1/2

United Polaris is one of top 5 business class that I have experienced (outside of Business Class Suites). The seat feels extremely private (especially ones where table faces the aisle). You can barely see anyone in the cabin when you are seated. I also love the Saks bedding and the memory foam pillow.

The service was pretty bad during the flight mainly due to a particular flight attendant. She was rude for pretty much entirety of the flight – whether be during speaking or serving meals.

The dining during this flight was pretty average. I was not a big fan of the sauce on the salmon and the zuccini chickpea curry for breakfast was quite bland.

Overall, I will still fly United for long-haul mainly because of the seat and amenities (great seat and bedding).
