Airline Review: EVA Airways – Business Class (Boeing 777-300 ER with Lie Flat Seats) : Taipei – Los Angeles (BR 16)

EVA Air is the one airline that I have flown the most of any carriers on long-haul routes. The 1 – 2 – 1 configuration with all seats having direct aisle access is the widely accepted standard (before we move on to privacy doors some day :)).

The business class cabin is separated into 7 rows in forward cabin and 4 rows in rear cabin. I booked this flight quite late and all window seats were gone by that time. I got the rear cabin bulkhead seat.

Its going to be a long but comfortable 12 hour flight

EVA Airways also has something like Singapore Airlines “Book the Cook” where you get expanded menu selection that you can order up to 24 hours before the flight. I had selected the steak as entrée for post-take off meal service and chicken thigh for the pre-landing.

The steak is the best I have ever had both on the air as well as on the ground. It was well seared outside and delicious inside.

After dinner I converted the seat to bed and went to sleep. The seat is very comfortable for sleeping. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the seat in bed mode but since I have traveled on the EVA Air Boeing 777-300ER so many times here is how the seat looks in bed mode.

Pre-landing meal service was served 2 hours before landing.

Roasted herb chicken thigh with tomato sauce and penne pasta

The chicken was crispy and the vegetables fresh.

I don’t recall ever being disappointed by EVA Airways catering and this was no exception. Each dish was well presented and tasted delicious.

The reverse herringbone seats with 1 – 2 – 1 layout and all seats having direct aisle access has been around for a while and still makes for a great night sleep. There is plenty of space around the seat.

I have always enjoyed EVA Airways catering. The expanded menu selection that can be ordered online before the flight has quite a few choices. Both the steak and chicken thigh were delicious.
