Day 1:
We arrived at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Mauritius on our flight from Mumbai fairly early in the morning. The airport is located in the south-east part of the island and located 50 km (about 1 hour drive) from the Hilton Mauritius resort. The resort is in the western part of the island in Flic-en-Flac neighbourhood. We had rented a car through Budget which allowed us to have the flexibility and convenience to drive around the island at our leisure.
After checking in and having breakfast we hit the beach.
For dinner we ate at the Ginger Thai restaurant at the resort.
Day 2:
After waking up, me and Karen went on a walk along the beach in both directions for at least a couple of miles. We loved walking along the beach early in the morning when there were not too many people out and about.
After breakfast at the resort, we got in the car and drove from our resort in Flic-en-flac to Kailassam Temple located near the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis. The drive was around 30 km one way (about 45 minutes). This is why its important to have a rental car which makes it so easy to explore all around the island.
For Hilton Gold members as a welcome amenity, the resort gave both of us a coupon booklet which each had (from memory) 5 drink vouchers. We made full use of the vouchers every day
After returning back to the resort, me and Karen headed to the Sunset bar for an afternoon drink.
We returned later in the evening with my parents to have some more drinks before heading to the Indian restaurant on property, Kesari Restaurant where we had dinner.
Day 3:
The Hilton resort had complimentary acquatic activities which included paddle boat. We took it out on 2 days for an hour or so.
On this day we wanted to drive along the west coast northbound and visit some of the other island beaches.
Our first stop was the public beach of Trou Aux Biches followed by Mont Choisy Beach.
After Mont Choisy Beach we drove a few more miles up north to Pereybere Beach.
Our last stop of the day was Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice de Cap Malhereux, a popular instagram spot on the island. Its a church with unique red roof against a beautiful backdrop.
Day 4:
The weather forecast had thunderstorms and rain on this day, so we stayed at the resort mostly with some small souvenir shopping in Flic-en-flac town.
Day 5:
This was our last full day in Mauritius and we started by lounging out by the pool in the morning followed by an hour on the paddle boat.
In the afternoon we drove from the resort to Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Geopark. The drive took about 1 hour (36 km). After paying for the park entrance fee, its a bit of a drive to get to the parking lot nearest to this attraction.
Next to the 7 Colored Earth, there is also a garden where you can see Aldabra Giant Tortoise.
After spending about 2 hours in the park, we drove back to the resort. In the evening we drove to Flic-en-flac town for some pizza.
Day 6:
We left the resort early in the morning and drove 45 minutes to the airport for our flight back to India.
