Flight: Cathay Pacific CX 883 from Los Angeles to Hong Kong
Duration: 14 hours 45 minutes
Aircraft: B773(Boeing 777-300ER)
Class: Business
Seat: 16K (Bulkhead Window seat with direct aisle access)
Seat Specification: True Flat Bed, Seat pitch: 81.0 “. Seat width: 21 ”
I have flown Cathay Pacific Business class on Boeing 777-300ER plenty of times before (and on this exact route nonetheless) so I knew what to expect as far as seating goes. I always opt for the bulkhead window seat if available and this time was no exception.
Cathay Pacific allows you to pre-order from an expanded online menu but unfortunately for this flight either most entrees included pork/beef or some type of noodle. I have not ordered Hindu Meal in Business class for over a decade and went with it for this flight. I am glad to have selected this meal as the butter chicken and black lentil both were quite delicious and so was the rice pilaf.
After dinner I laid out the seat in bed mode and slept for a good 6 hours. I am a big fan of the comforters they provide in Cathay Business these days.
Breakfast service started about 2 hours before landing. I did not care much for the garbanzo beans curry (lacked flavor) and the parathas were soggy.
Bottom-line:
Seat: **** 1/2
Service: ***
Food: ***1/2
Cathay Pacific provides an expanded online menu that you can pre-book for your flight. I did not see any appetizing option for my taste and opted for the “Hindu Meal” (code: HNML). It worked out perfectly for me as the dinner entrée for butter chicken with rice pilaf was quite tasty. I did not care too much for the garbanzo beans/chickpea curry for breakfast though as it lacked flavor.
