Namutoni Camp, Etosha National Park

Namutoni Camp is located in the eastern part of the Etosha National park, just 13 km from the Von Lindequist Gate. One thing to remember is distance between Windhoek International Airport and Namutoni Camp is 583km which is about 100km more than the Okaukuejo Camp.

We arrived quite late at the camp and it was already dark. By the time we checked in and got our keys, it was pitch dark and there is lack of light inside the perimeter of the camp. We drove in circles for almost 30 minutes to get to our room.

The waterhole at Namutoni camp was disappointing. I had read earlier in different reviews about how the waterhole was not very productive for game viewing which turned out to be true. We went by 3 times during our stay and each time there was nothing there. Compared to that, the Okaukuejo camp waterhole (and the Halai Camp waterhole that we visited during lunch on 2 days during our stay) are much better.

Thumbs up:

  • Bush Chalet was spacious.
  • Restaurant food was ok considering where you are.

Thumbs down:

  • Not a very productive waterhole for game viewing. I had read about this before and can confirm that previous reports are real. Okaukuejo has much better waterhole than Namutoni
  • Serious lack of power ports in the room.
  • Serious lack of lighting on the premises. We arrived late and got lost driving from the front office to our chalet.
