Flight: LATAM LA 602 from Santiago to Los Angeles
Duration: 10 hours 45 minutes
Equipment: B788 (Boeing 787-8)
Class: Business
Seat: 4D-4H(Aisle)
Seat Specification: Lie Flat, Seat pitch: 75″, Seat width: 23″
LATAM flies Boeing 787-8 between Santiago and Los Angeles which unfortunately lacks the new business class product (with 1-2-1 configuration) and instead has the old 2-2-2 seat configuration in Business Class. Since we were flying together, I selected the middle rows and both of us had direct access to aisle.
The cabin feels very open and the 2 rows in the forward cabin and 2 rows in rear cabin has a small divider but no galley/rest room.
One thing (probably the one thing!!) I liked about the seat was the lack of footwell and instead a foot-rest which allows for one to move leg freely when sleeping.
The seat was fairly comfortable for sleeping and I slept most of the flight in between the dinner and breakfast.
Bottomline:
Seat: ***
Service: ***
Food: **
On a positive note, the seat was lie flat and good for a comfortable sleep. On the downside, the cabin felt way too open and almost no privacy. Also the 2 x 2 x 2 seat configuration not ideal for folks traveling alone and are in window seats and have to climb over seatmate. I do like the foot-rest here over narrow footwell in many business class I have traveled.
The catering left much to be desired and I was not impressed.
Overall though the flat-bed made up for whatever was lacking and would not hesitate flying this carrier to south-America.
