Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel

Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel is a beachfront hotel property located about 8 miles from Kona International Airport. The hotel is at a prime location with lots of great dining options nearby. We had booked 2 stays (1 night each) at this hotel at the beginning as well as the end of the trip. The points required for a redemption stay varies by time of the year and we paid 42,000 Marriott Rewards points for 1 night redemption stay.
The bed and linens were very comfy and made for a great night sleep.
The ocean was quite cold due to the time of the year (mid January), so we opted to spend time at the pool instead.
As seen in pictures, even though the hotel is a beach-front property, the beach is not that pretty. If having a beautiful beach is that important, I would go with other properties on the island.

- Excellent customer service by front desk. We originally had booked 2 stays at the hotel, the second one being the last night on the island. Due to an emergency, I had to return back to mainland and the cancellation deadline had already passed. When I personally approached the front desk on my way to the airport, the representative cancelled the booking and promised that the points will be refunded back to my account (and they were within 2 days!!). I am very grateful for the amazing service by the front desk.

- Even though the hotel does have a beach, I would be hesitant to call this a “beach resort”. In other words, not that great a beach and better beach resort options on the island (with Marriott or otherwise).
