Cathay Pacific flies Boeing 777-300ER on all its LAX – HKG flights (3 x Daily) and I have experienced it twice before, once in 2015 and next in 2018. There are a total of 53 business class seats divided between a small forward cabin of 2 rows of 1 x 2 x 1 reverse herringbone configuration and rest in a big cabin behind it.

I declined pre-departure beverage of champagne/juice as I had some drinks at the lounge in LAX just an hour prior.

Cathay Pacific LAX – HKG Business Class Menu

Dinner service started soon after take-off. I felt I had better menu choices on my previous trans-pacific flights and was a little disappointed. I ended up choosing the wok fried pork with black pepper and it turned out to be surprisingly ok.

For dessert I chose Tiramisu as well as chocolate ice-cream.

Dessert – Tiramisu & Hagendaz Ice cream

After dinner I watched a couple of movies and then extended the seat in bed mode and went to sleep. I slept for about 7 hours and then dozed off for a couple more.

Breakfast service started about 3 hours before landing.

Bottomline:

Seat: *****

Service: ***

Food: **

The seat was very comfortable and being my favorite type of seat (reverse herringbone with each seat having direct aisle access) I slept really well. I also liked that I had selected the forward business-class cabin with 2 rows which had minimal foot traffic.

The service was ok, nothing remarkable.

My biggest disappointment was with menu choices. I was not happy with Cathay wasting an entree choice with burger(!!) and my wok fried pork was ok. I remember having better meals in Cathay Pacific in same LAX – HKG segment in prior years.
