Flight: EVA Air BR 206 from Bangkok to Taipei
Duration: 3 hours 45 minutes
Aircraft: A333 (Airbus 330-300)
Class: Business (Premium Laurel)
Seat: 8G, Middle Aisle
Seat Specification: Angled Flat, Seat pitch: 62″. Seat width: 22″
EVA Airways flies different configurations on Bangkok – Taipei route. They fly Boeing 777-300 with Royal Laurel Business class with flat beds in 1-2-1 layout (which I flew in 2015) and also fly Airbus 300 with Premium Laurel Business class with angled flat seats in 2-2-2 layout (this flight). For a short flight as this one the difference in comfort was minimal.
Flight attendant came by and offered some pre-takeoff drinks as well as dining menu.
Dinner service started soon after takeoff. EVA Airways offers a full dining experience on this flight even though it departs very late (around 2 AM).
The grilled chicken thigh was just very ordinary (dry and not much flavor).
The star dish turned out to be the grilled salmon with minced prawn. This was a super yummy dish with off the charts flavor!!
After dinner service, I just ended up watching a movie. I cannot comment on if the seat is uncomfortable in bed mode (as its supposed to be angled flat). Frankly for such a short journey the seat was good enough to make for a comfortable flight.
Bottomline:
Seat: ***
Service: ***
Food: ****
The seat is angled-flat but given the short journey it was sufficient. I would be hesitant to fly this on 10+ hour flight though.
The service was nothing memorable. It was efficient but nothing endearing.
I loved the stuffed salmon with minced prawns. One of the top 10 dish I have enjoyed in-flight probably. The grilled chicken thigh was no fun though.
