Artiem Madrid
Calle Juan Perez Zuñiga, 20, 28027 Madrid, Spain
While researching for various hotel options in Madrid on Tripadvisor, I came across Artiem Madrid hotel. It had a good cash rate (about $120 USD per night after taxes per room per night) along with a high rating on Tripadvisor (#3 as of booking the hotel). I went ahead and booked 2 rooms for 2 nights at this hotel.
We showed up at the hotel from the airport at around 10 AM. The hotel is in a residential neighborhood and about 10 minutes walk to nearest metro stop Barrio de la Concepción (Line 7). As the rooms were not ready at this point, the front desk still checked us in and requested us to hang out in the lobby area for about 20 minutes.
The room was pretty big by European standards although the bathroom was small.
Thumbs up:
- Very highly rated on Tripadvisor and available for good cash rates
- “Chill Corner” – You can easily avoid spending for both lunch and dinner throughout your entire stay if you choose to do so. The “Chill Corner” was stacked with sandwiches (various types including tuna, ham, vegetable), dessert, yogurt, drinks, soda and an assortment of appetizers. In our entire travel lives we have not been at a hotel that had such an assortment of complimentary food available to guests.
- Responsive Customer Service. We were allowed to check-in as early as 10 AM and were allowed complimentary late checkout of 3 PM.
Thumbs down:
- In a residential neighborhood about a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station (Barrio de la Concepción stop). This was not a big deal for us but might be for others who want to stay in the city close to most attractions.
- Almost no good dining options nearby.
