Day 1:
We arrived at Changi International Airport around noon. After clearing Immigration and Customs we headed for the MRT station which is located at the lower level. I bought a Singapore 3-Day Tourist Pass which gave us unlimited rides at the MRT and Bus Transit system. After getting the pass we headed to Little India MRT station where our hotel (Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon) was located.
After checking-in and freshening up, we headed out for lunch at the Mavalli Tiffin Room, Singapore located about 10 minutes away on Serangoon Road.
After lunch, we headed back towards our hotel but not before stopping by the iconic department store Mustafa Centre. I had heard a lot about this department store from anyone who has ever visited Singapore but frankly was a little underwhelmed. I mean yes it is very big and sells everything imaginable under the same roof (from groceries to souvenirs, apparel, electronics, gold, currency exchange and many more). However, I felt the store to be too cluttered with very narrow aisles. We ended up buying some souvenir chocolates for gifts back home.
Day 2:
After breakfast we headed out for Marina Bay Sands (MRT Stop: Bayfront Station).
After exiting the Bayfront MRT station, we made our way to Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observation Deck ticketing. The tickets were $23 SGD for adults and $17 SGD for seniors. A quick elevator ride up the building and we were soon at the top.
After spending a couple of hours enjoying the views, we got back down and walked towards Gardens By the Bay.
We spent a couple of hours walking around the different areas of the Garden by the Bay. We skipped the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest as we were a bit short on time as well as did not want to pay $28 SGD per person for those attractions.
Next we took the metro to Raffles Place MRT stop and walked to Merlion Park.
From the Merlion Park you get a great view of the Marina Bay Sands across the river.
After spending about 30 minutes in Merlion park we took the metro again to Old Airport Road Hawker Center (MRT Stop: Dakota). Eating at a hawker center is a traditional Singaporean experience and no trip to Singapore is complete without partaking in this activity at least once.
We ordered 2 plates of Vegetarian Hokkien Mee and Vegetarian Mie Goreng and it was actually pretty delicious and the portions enough to feed 3 people.
After this late lunch we got back to the hotel. In the evening my parents just relaxed in the hotel and later walked around Little India neighborhood while I met an old high school friend and his family for dinner.
Day 3:
This was our last day in Singapore and we only had about half day for any sightseeing. We took the metro to Bugis MRT stop which is located right across the street to the famous Bugis Street Market. This is a large street shopping venue that is perfect for buying souvenirs.
After spending about an hour at Bugis and doing some minor souvenir shopping we took the metro to Orchard MRT stop. Right next to the metro station is the ION Orchard, one of the 22 malls located along this 2.2 km stretch of Orchard Road.
We decided to have our lunch at the food court in ION Orchard (Food Opera) before heading back to the hotel and leaving for airport.
