Flight:  Singapore Airlines SQ 1 from San Francisco to Hong Kong

Duration: 14 hours 20 minutes

Equipment: B773(Boeing 777-300 ER)

Class: First

Seat: 1K (Window)

Seat Specification: Flatbed seat (non-suite), Seat pitch: 71 “. Seat width: 35 ”

This was my second time ever on a Singapore Airlines First Class flight (or any First Class for that matter). My first time in Singapore F was on this same route but in reverse (Hong Kong to San Francisco). I had wait-listed my award about 330 days out and the wait-list cleared about 2 weeks before the flight.

The First Class cabin consists of 8 seats in 1 x 2 x 1 configuration. The Boeing 777-300 ER does not feature private suites in F unlike the A380 version.

After getting settled and taking some pictures, the FA came by and introduced herself and offered amenity kits. I did not take any pictures of the kits this time around but these were really good quality Ferragamo kits.

Krug. I drank some Dom later too (not in picture)

I declined pre-departure champagne and opted to be served right after takeoff. Singapore serves both Dom Perignon and Krug in F and I wanted to try both. First up was Krug with some roasted walnuts and cashews. After that, I tried some Dom with my meal (not in picture).

For appetizer I went with caviar service and sesame crusted tuna. Our delightful FA Janet asked if I wanted some chilled vodka with caviar service which I accepted.

Next up was chicken soup (which i forgot to take pictures of) followed by main entree. I had already selected “Book the Cook” service for this flight and had chosen  the Lobster Thermidor. The lobster was really tasty and not rubbery that I had feared it was going to be considering so many trip reports online.I was really happy with my selection. Did not care too much about the rice.

Dessert – Lemon Tart with Vanilla Icecream

After entree, I had some Lemon Tart with vanilla ice-cream for dessert and skipped the cheese and fruit plate as I was too full. After supper, I requested turn-down service while I went to the lavatory to freshen up.

The blankets are really good quality although I wish the pillows were a bit thicker. I slept really well in this bed and it was definitely my favorite seat among all airlines I have ever flown in my life.

After a good 7 hours sleep and watching a couple of movies (Finding Dory, Jason Bourne) it was time for breakfast service before landing in Hong Kong.

I opted for some OJ, fruit plate and Dim Sum selections. The fruit plate was really good with some delicious Kiwi as well as blackberry. Dim Sum was ok.

Soon after I finished breakfast, it was time to land in Hong Kong. And thus ended a wonderful 14 hour flight that would rate in the top 3 enjoyable flight I have ever taken.

Bottomline:

Seat: *****

Service: *****

Food: *****

I was very impressed with impeccable service on this flight. Both the FA (Janet) as well as purser of the flight were impressive with their attention to detail as well as thoughtfulness, courtesy and efficiency. Throughout the flight I felt that the crew really cared about the comfort of the passengers and always tried to go above and beyond to make the flight a memorable experience.

The seat was wide and very comfortable. The only very minor gripe was that it was more comfortable for sleeping in than sitting.

I was also very satisfied with dining options on the flight. The lobster thermidor was delicious and one of the better seafood I have had at 36000 ft.

However, the highlight of the flight was definitely the memorable service from the Singapore Airlines F class crew.
