I knew what to expect in the lower deck of the 747 KLM business class after traveling in it for the first time just a few hours earlier on Nairobi to Amsterdam flight. After boarding I took a few quick pictures of the cabin and me and Karen got seated.
I really liked the 1A seat but it only is suitable for solo travelers.
Soon after sitting down, the flight attendant came by and handed over the menu card and offered pre-departure beverage.
I went with regular champagne and some warm nuts & cheese.
Both me and Karen went with Seared Salmon for our entree. The salmon was just ok and frankly I have had better salmon on some other business class flights before.
After finishing off the salmon, it was time for some cheese and fruit plate.
After finishing dinner, I wanted to get some sleep before arriving in Los Angeles and laid down the seat in bed mode.
Karen did not care much for the meal service and was still a bit hungry while I was sleeping and ordered the Turkey club sandwich from the light meal menu.
I slept for about 7 hours and after waking up ended up watching an inflight movie. By the time the movie ended, it was close to landing time in Los Angeles.

With 1-2-1 direct-aisle-access for every seat on many airlines, this 2 x 2 flat bed seat is not competitive any more. However, traveling with a partner makes it still a pretty comfortable experience. Service was ok for this segment as the flight attendants were all courteous.
I did not care much for the food on this flight. The salmon was just ok and I would have liked to have a more variety of choice.
