Ramses Hilton, Cairo, Egypt
1115 Corniche El Nile, Cairo, Egypt
Ramses Hilton is a Catgory 2 Hilton property located on the banks of the Nile, only a 10 minute walk from the famous Museum of Egyptian Antiquities (also commonly known as Egyptian Museum). This hotel costs only 10,000 Hilton HHonors points per award night.
We arrived really late at night (around 2 AM). We had booked 2 rooms for a total of 4 guests. Check-in was very quick and the agent upgraded both the rooms from a regular King to King Deluxe (with River Nile views). Due to me and my wife’s elite status (Gold and Diamond respectively), we were all given Executive Lounge access for the duration of our stay and free breakfast at the in-house Terrace Cafe Restaurant.
The only negative comments regarding the room was that the carpet looked old and appeared as if not been cleaned in ages.
Both the rooms had great views of the River Nile as well as the Cairo Tower.
The Executive Lounge served plenty of food (both a variety of appetizers and desserts) during Happy Hour and we dined here in the evenings during our stay.
Our complimentary breakfast was served at the Terrace Cafe Restaurant. There was a wide array of both cold and hot dishes available for breakfast – from cold meat section to cereals, beef sausages, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fried vegetables, falafel, aubergines, variety of fruits and drinks, wide selection of dessert etc. There was also an Omelette station where a chef will cook the eggs to your specifications.
The service at the restaurant was really good. The servers were all very courteous and helpful. I would also like to mention the extremely helpful Front Desk staff as well as the Concierge Desk.
Our flight from Cairo to Luxor was scheduled to leave quite late at night (past 9 PM) and when I requested a late checkout, the front desk agent did not even hesitate to grant us a 5 PM extended checkout (which I think was very generous). Also, we were staying at another Hilton in Luxor (Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa) and I was not sure if the concierge at that hotel had finalized the arrangement for our airport pickup. When I mentioned the situation to the Concierge Desk, the gentleman who had already been off duty personally called the hotel and confirmed that our airport transfer had been finalized.
Thumbs up:
- Very good location within walking distance of The Egyptian Museum
- Excellent recognition of HHonors Elite members
- Nice Executive lounge with excellent selection of items for Happy Hour
- Great selection of breakfast items at the Terrace Cafe Restaurant
- Very responsive front desk agents and Concierge.
Thumbs down:
- Rooms can feel very dated and need of a refresh.
- Far away from the Cairo attractions (except the Egyptian Museum which is next door)
