Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel
Bath Road Hounslow England TW6 2AQ United Kingdom
Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel is a Marriott Category 6 property located about 10 minutes driving distance from the London Heathrow airport (depending on the terminals as there are 5 of them). A free night at this property costs 30,000 Marriott Rewards points (25,000 points for Pointsavers). The hotel doesn’t have any complimentary shuttles to the airport but there are multiple transportation options available. The easiest (and most expensive) is of course the cab. There are also plenty of Heathrow Hotel Hoppa buses available. Not all buses go to every hotel and not all buses go to every terminal. There are also some complimentary public bus service available to different Heathrow terminals. Buses 105, 111 and 140 go to Terminals 1,2,3 and Bus 555 goes to Terminal 4 and Bus 423 goes to Terminal 5 (and they don’t all run 24hrs).
It was late at night so we just took a cab from the terminal to the hotel. The fare came out to be around 25 GBP. Pretty darn steep compared to the short distance it covered and I think we may have been had by the cabbie, not to mention how extremely rude he was.
The hotel is pretty old and it is showing. The carpets are being held together by scotch-tape in a lot of places and definitely not the stuff Renaissance properties around the world are representative of. But fear not, the hotel is undergoing extensive renovation !! I don’t know when the renovation will be completed but hopefully after its finished, the hotel will have a much fresher look.
The front desk was working under a makeshift arrangement in one of the conference rooms. The internet access at the business center is not complimentary but the wifi is. We had booked two twin beds in each room as that was the only option available with points.
The room looked old and the furnishings outdated. The TV was a 20 year old CRT.
The bed was screeching and the mattress was kind of uncomfortable.
Thumbs up:
- Close to Heathrow Airport, good for a night or two stay if you are not commuting to Central London.
Thumbs down:
- Old hotel with outdated furniture and furnishings.
- Run down in places (carpet being held with tape)
- No free internet. Free wifi though.
- Better options in the area. Not worth a Category 6 Marriott property.
