JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok
4 Sukhumvit Road, Soi 2 Bangkok, 10110 Thailand
The JW Marriott Bangkok is a Category 5 Marriott property with a free night award redemption of 25K Marriott rewards points. It is about 30 km from Suvarnabhumi Airport and 25 km from Don Mueang Airport. Located on the Sukhumvit road it is near BTS Nana station (and within walking distance to BTS Ploen Chit station). There are 24 floors with over 400 rooms including about 40 suites. Plenty of dining options on the property including 3 Japanese restaurants, 1 steakhouse and a Chinese restaurant.
When I arrived at the hotel it was around 5 PM. Check-in was quick and the front desk agent inquired whether I had transportation arranged to the airport. There were protests planned throughout Bangkok next day and wanted to make sure I checked out early enough so not to get stuck in traffic.
The main lobby had a sort of elegance that you don’t see in just about any Marriott !!
I had requested a high floor and the front desk assigned me an 18th floor room. Even the hallways had nice painting and decorations on the walls.
The room was fairly standard for a studio king. First thing I noticed was nice flooring and the accent walls.
The bathroom was small but had very nice marble floors and walls.
Thumbs up:
- Excellent location in the city close to 2 BTS stations.
- Close to Grand Palace and other tourist destination such as Wat Arun and Wat Pho.
- Very grand and elegant hotel interiors.
- Lots of dining options in the hotel. If you want to try out local flavors, plenty of dining options within walking distance.
Thumbs down:
- Price. This is a JW Marriott after all, but depending on budget it can be an excellent option in $150-$200 range
- No complimentary shuttle to airport. But then none of the hotels in the area provide that either.
