The starter of latin shaved beef with lemon aoli was sub par (mixed reviews as Karen apparently liked it) and salted caramel tartlet for dessert was way too sweet and I gave up after just a couple of bites. What saved the meal was the herb grilled beef filet and twice baked potato. Karen’s artichoke ravioli started out good but after a few bites it felt one note.
After lunch, I watched a movie for an hour and then converted the seat to bed mode and went to sleep for next 5 hours. The bed was long and quite comfortable. I have had business class seats where on bed mode your feet touch the end and you have to bend the knees. Not here!!
Flight attendants woke us up about 2 hours before landing for breakfast.
My omelet with chicken sausage, seasoned potatoes was one of the best airline breakfasts I have ever had (or maybe I just really like hollandaise sauce on everything!!). The oats were tasty but they skimped on the quantity.
Bottomline:
Seat: *****
Service: ***
Food: ***
The seat was very comfortable, felt private and great for sleeping on an overnight trans-Atlantic flight.
I didn’t care too much about the lunch as the dessert was too sweet and starter a bit bland. The beef filet was ok.
Regardless of the soft product, I would never hesitate to fly AA business class just because of the excellent seat. The seat layouts and structure give plenty of privacy, lots of legroom and a great option for a good sleep for long-haul flights.
