Flight: Thai Airways TG 313 from Bangkok to Kolkata
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Aircraft: A333(Airbus 330-300)
Class: Business (Royal Silk)
Seat: 14E (Middle Aisle)
Seat Specification: Angled Flat Seats, Seat pitch: 58.0 “. Seat width: 20 ”
Disclaimer: Me and Karen flew this route on two different dates. I have combined our pictures on this review.
Thai Airways operates the newer reconfigured A330 (with angled-flat seats) on this route now compared to the older versions (with recliner seats) that I flew 2 years ago. For such a short-haul flight (2.5 hours), the difference in experience is not that much significant.
After boarding, the stewardess served welcome beverage and I chose lemon-iced tea instead of champagne.
There are 36 seats in 2 x 2 x 2 configuration in business class. There were at least 20 empty seats during our flight !!
I had pre-booked shrimp curry on Thai Airways website a few days prior to departure but seeing Lamb on menu I informed the stewardess of my desire to change my selection. Since the cabin was fairly empty, she let me know that it was not going to be an issue.
The crab meat salad was delicious but Karen is not a big fan of raw salmon. I happen to like Salmon regardless of how they are prepared :).
The lamb was very tasty albeit a little oily. The chickpeas (chole masala) was pretty tasty too.
Karen liked her shrimp a lot !!
By the time dinner service was done, there was only an hour left for landing. I laid out the seat watched half of a movie on IFE.
Bottomline:
Seat: *****
Service: ****
Food: ****
For a 2.5 hours flight, the seat is way better than what one would expect. For that reason only, I would vote it 5 stars out of 5. I usually find the Thai Airways cabin crew to be very attentive. The catering was really good on both mine and Karen’s flights
